It is good to be the King of junk, in Columbus, Ohio.

Starting Out:

Almost 2 years ago we became the first Junk King located outside of California when we opened our junk removal and hauling business here in Dublin, a suburb of Columbus, Ohio. We take great pride in offering excellent service and great value to our customers.

Located near Columbus, Ohio:

Being located in Northern Franklin County means we are ideally situated to serve suburbs and towns in this area and we frequently serve Dublin, Powell, Columbus, Hilliard, Westerville, New Albany, and Grove City. We even offer junk removal and hauling services as far north as Marysville and the Polaris area (which is something our competitors can’t say).

Environmentally Conscious Business:

A big factor in our success seems to be that we are “green.” A lot of our customers say that our description as “eco-friendly” contributed to their choosing us and we think that is because more and more people are concerned about the environment. We recycle over 65% of the items we collect and we donate all re-usable items to charity, so the amount of trash removed that ends up in a landfill is very small. It feels good to be in a business that helps people and the planet. Call us and we’ll pick up your bulk trash, donations, and recyclables fast and hassle-free!

Professional Furniture Disposal and Appliance Removal:

Many of our customers want help removing and disposing of large household objects especially big furniture and heavy, bulky appliances and we are always glad that people don’t risk injury by moving such things on their own; aside from being experienced, fit and strong, we also bring tools and equipment to assist us and make sure it is as safe as possible for everyone. We frequently remove and dispose of couches, desks, stoves, refrigerators, freezers, washing machines, dryers, dishwashers, furnaces, hot water heaters, air conditioners, and a surprising number of pool tables. We have never had a serious injury on a job and we work hard to keep it that way!

Hot Tubs, Spas, and Above-Ground Pools:

In the warmer months it sometimes seems like we run a business dedicated to removing hot tubs. These calls are one of the tougher calls we get, aside from the weight and size of most hot tubs they may also be connected to plumbing and electricity and this is where Eric’s experience installing water filtration systems really comes in handy because he understands all the dangers and the correct techniques needed to keep everyone (and everything) safe, dry and undamaged. The last thing our clients want to worry about is injury or damage and many hire us because they know we are experienced professionals.

Consumer Electronics:

We also get lots of calls to remove and recycle unwanted electronics like televisions and computers. As awareness about all the heavy metals and other toxic substances used in their manufacture grows, our services grows with it. It’s just not environmentally sound to throw away an old TV. We will pick it up and make sure that it is disposed of  properly. If it is a computer or any device with memory we will even make sure that the data is inaccessible so that it doesn’t fall into the wrong hands. All electronics are properly sorted, recycled, and safely disposed of.

Experience with Sensitive Situations:

It’s sad to say but we also sometimes get calls for sensitive and delicate situations like cleaning out estates, helping hoarders, and even foreclosures. In situations like that we exercise great care to act with sensitivity, professionalism and discretion. We think the least we can do is make a trying situation, like the death of a loved-one or the closing of a business, as painless and easy as possible.

Licensed, Bonded and Insured:

Our customers can rest assured that our employees all wear uniforms, and that we are licensed, bonded and insured. Our website features testimonials from some of our customers and we recently were awarded the Angie’s list super service award. On our site you can also find our blog about junk hauling and trash removal in Columbus, Ohio.

Choosing the Right Appliances to Improve Your Home

What year was your washer manufactured? How about your dryer or your refrigerator? Do you know that appliances made today are far more efficient than those made even as little as five years ago? The electric, gas, or water bill you’re paying to run those old appliances could be cut in half if you upgrade to newer equipment. If you do it now, you might even be able to take advantage of subsidies and rebates being offered by manufacturers and state and federal government. Act fast though, that free money is running out quickly.
You’ll soon realize that improving your home with new appliances is an investment, not an expense. However, before you start shopping for the new appliance, make sure you have someone ready to take away the old items for you. Junk King will be able to effortlessly get rid of that old washer, dryer, fridge, or any other type of appliance.
Let’s get onto the buying.  When you are selecting new appliances, ask lots of questions. The “Energy Star” rating is a good indicator that the appliance uses less electricity, gas, or water, but it’s not a guarantee of quality. If you have online resources, research brand names and pay attention to any warning signs about models that have had problems in the past. Going with an established brand name like Whirlpool or General Electric is a safe bet, but that doesn’t mean that some of the newer companies don’t have quality equipment. Shop around and compare. It’s a big investment, so don’t rush.
One of the things you’ll notice while shopping for new appliances is the difference in size. This is particularly true for kitchen appliances. The dishwasher or microwave you used to own took up a lot of space. The new ones not only do a better job, they’re smaller. You’ll have more counter and floor space after you upgrade, making your kitchen bigger and easier to move around in. You might actually start to spend more time there again and enjoy making meals for your family.
One of the great things about hiring Junk King for your appliance disposal needs is their ability to responsibly dispose of the junk items.  Most appliances don’t belong in the regular trash (or subsequently in a landfill). There are enough dead appliances in our landfills already, polluting the soil and taking up space that can never be used for anything else again. Beautifying your home with new appliances is a wonderful thing. Destroying the earth by not recycling the old appliances is not.  Junk King will know how to get rid of these items by taking them to the proper facilities.

Clear Out Your Driveway

Not everyone parks their car in their driveway. There are a number of other good uses for that long strip of gravel or asphalt, and storing all your useless junk there isn’t one of them. If you’re not going to use it for the car, at least find something creative to do with it. Begin by clearing it out. Call a junk removal company and get rid of all the old appliances and dented metal trash barrels you know that you’ll never use again. That space is much more than a storage bin for the tools and toys of yesteryear. It’s part of your living space. Treat it with respect.

What can you do with an empty driveway? You could have the asphalt torn up and turn it into a lawn. Rent a jack-hammer at your local hardware store and take an afternoon to hammer it into manageable chunks, then call the junk removal company back to haul it all away. The next step will require some heavier equipment; you’ll need to turn over all the soil underneath and plant some grass seed. You could also buy sod and roll out a new lawn in a few hours. It only takes a few days to take root and settle, so you could be barbequing on your new lawn in no time.

If you want to stick with the heavy equipment idea, you could just dig down and put a pool where your driveway used to be. That’s always a good time for all. You could also repave with concrete and make a basketball or tennis court out of it. Do you have kids? You’ll find they get injured a lot less after the junk removal company gets rid of the old junk in the driveway and you give them a place to play. They might even hang around the house more often instead of going to the neighbors all the time.

You could also leave the driveway as is and start using it as a driveway again. Some people stop parking their car in the driveway when they think they need it for storage. When you clean out the driveway, clean out the basement or garage too and you’ll find you have plenty of storage space. The car can go back in the driveway where it belongs and you can start doing your own auto repairs again. With rising gas and insurance prices you’ll need to find new ways to save money. Changing your own oil is one of them, as is vacuuming and washing the car at home. All of these tasks are a lot easier to do when your car is in the driveway instead of on the street.

If the rest of these suggestions seem like too much work, here’s a simple one. Call the junk removal company and point out what you want removed. Leave a table and chair, buy a hibachi and a cooler, and set up in the driveway for a relaxing day of burgers and beers. What could possible be better than that?

Get Rid of Old Appliances

There are several appliances in your home that need to be replaced every so often.  When was the last time you took a look at the new appliances section of the department store?  Some of the technological and aesthetic advances in the household appliances sector within the last ten years are incredible.  I’d like to take a look at some household appliances that have made leaps and bounds; some of the very appliances you might be interested in replacing.

  1. Refrigerators – Your standard refrigerator of old is gone.  Today’s high tech refrigerators include features like recipe databases, internet connectivity, beer taps, built in high def. TVs and automated storage checks.  Think ‘HAL’ from space odyssey.  Consider getting rid of your old clunker and replacing it with a lean, mean refrigeration machine.
  2. Washing Machines -  The new line of washing machines look great – coming in a variety of colors and styles that can fit right into your home.  You no longer need to have that washing machine deep within the recesses of your basement. Display it proudly and accessibly right on ground level. Not only do washing machines look better, they also perform at a completely different level; offering intelligent technology that washes and dries in one load and micro targets specific articles of clothing with extreme clean.
  3. Microwave – The microwave was one of the greatest inventions of the 20th century – providing people with a quick and efficient way to cook food in their homes.  The microwaves of the 21st century not only cooks food but also offers options that dramatically increases your efficiency, including auto timing so your food can be ready to eat as soon as you return home.
  4. Stoves – Your stove is the command center of your kitchen, the appliance that can determine if your thanksgiving turkey comes out just perfect or not so good.  Today’s modern stoves include a range of features including self cleaning options, touchscreen commands, and pre-set cook settings for various food types.  If you want to start cooking better, it all starts with your stove.

If you decide to get rid of old appliances you’ll need a good way to haul the junk out of your house.  As far as a refrigerator, stove, or washing machine goes, these items are extremely heavy and best left to hauling professionals.  Junk-King provides the best junk hauling service around, feel free to book a free on site estimate online or call 1-800-995 JUNK.
